CSi on CL in Santa Rosa , CA

Asking price at $72,500, looks decent, asking too much going by the pictures. May be worth it if all the work's been done and the car is very well sorted.

Didn't the 137th CSi built trigger any memories for long time members here? Does the alias d-ace ring a bell?
you just had to go there and had to bring up that name again ... i was just starting to forget it. aaaaarggghhhhhh !!!!!!! (sorry i just reminded myself of another person i have been trying to forget - the exclamation points give it away)

Wow that was the strangest FS thread ever. This just might be the only forum that I frequent that has improved over time. Most degrade and people recall the forum days gone by. Your typing skills are improving each year though!

Without seeing the old pics, it seems like $25K was a good deal, even in 2010.

I have fond memories of that thread. Acid dipping restorations always lead to caustic comments. The car looks pretty nice, I just cannot see craigslist as the place to sell a $72k car.

I'm not sure if you are being your usual self or if you are serious about the opinions on acid dipping. There are a lot of theories and anecdotal stories on seeping acid ruining paint. I would like to dip my car but I won't do it unless I can get the care coated immediately after. I don't think I have the time to remove all of the paint and undercoating manually. The shops in Seattle will acid dip the car but they aren't equipped to dunk it in primer. There is no way I'm leaving the inside of the frame rails bare metal.

I do not know much and it never occurred to me that there would be leftover acid after the end of the process. I assumed after the acid there is another dipping in a chemical that would react with any leftover acid. As a youngster I used to experiment with sulfuric and nitric acids until the family doctor told my mother what can happen to my tissues accidentally, so I turned to 5 Volt electronics instead.

I have been thinking that there is nothing like factory paint, why is that? Do they immerse the car? Do they have robots that paint to perfection? Do they cure the paint in giant ovens? I want to propose that every car factory should have an open house day every month where people can bring their prep'ed chassis to be factory repainted. Espresso and lattes are served while you watch the paint dry. Who is in?

I like this idea. I am so tired of seeing "restored" cars that look like they were painted outside in a dust and fluff storm.

Yep, CSi #137, there should be a prize for the coupe with longest craigslist run... I believe this one has to be longest by far when you combine the project listing with the finished car listing?
