Hi Keshav,

I think after reading the article, with the exception of the GS (couldn't find the comments in relation to this car) the Alpina was the most sophisticated of the 4 tuners. No wonder it's still the refence today when it comes to BMW tuning.

True Phillipe,
Off all the tuners back in the day, let’s not forget Heidegger (the most fascinating looking car for me personally) have all dissapeared except Alpina. So ofcourse they are the standard today, even with the modern cars.
But back to my personal choice, check out these pics.

Hi Keshav,

looks great indeed but apparently also not intended for road use.

All Uber E9s, a great article. Love these hot rods.

So, how many/which cars from the article still exist?...c'mon, someone knows.. ;-)

Wish there were interior pics to see how they set up the offices. Aux gauges, seats, rudders, belts etc...

Like the relocation of the Heddireiggger car's wiper fluid, I like that...hhmmmm.

Gear ratio info is neat. How would someone ID the ratio in their CR 262/5spd tranny?

thx for sharing.

Hello,

This Heidegger is my ex-car. It is one only two Heidegger CSLs.
The other one has not resurfaced yet.

Between 2000 and 2014 I did close to 50‘000 km with it.
Fantastic car, amazing roadholding (in the dry !), lots of fun.

I sort of like the blue paint the next owner put on the air dam.
But I think the fake period stickers are out of place.

Since 2014 the car changed hands several times.
Unfortunately some sellers/dealers have felt the need to “improve“ the car’s history.
Already twice I felt compelled to write and ask people to correct false information.
Funnily the number of previous owners seemed to have diminished since I sold it in 2014 !

Some wrote that these cars had been built for racing in Gr2, which is totally wrong.
Building and maintaining a Gr2 coupé was extremely expensive, so Heidegger thought it was wiser to stick to 2002 racing.
The Heidegger CSLs were body-builded supercars for the road, in the same category as the Alpina/GS/Koepchen/Schnitzer of the Auto Motor Sport article.

Although it is not impossible that this Heidegger was occasionally used in local hillclimbs, it was never a “real“ Gr2 car with a FIA Wagenpass.

I remember the car when you had it Marc, we spoke a little at Le Mans Classic with Yannick and Marco. I loved it then and only wish I had the chance to purchase when you sold it as I agree the history has been embellished since. Hopefully it is soon in the hands of a purist like yourself and the history is properly restored.

Great that you got to enjoy out for so long though, what fun it must have been

Pete
