Hello, I am a new member and need some guidance to purchase a csl in Austria. I've always admired these cars and the time has come to finally purchase one. I have located this csl in Austria which I'm in communication with the seller. He doesn't speak English so I've been using google translate to communicate with him.

Here's the last email describing the condition of the car. This is a google translation but some words are still in German:
*
the car was restored very lavishly and spec. at the bottom portion , as well as the sill of the A-pillars
some sheets was replaced, but also the tank frame and the spare box was original new parts
replaced . The front fenders were removed to the damage to the body or zubeheben
be replaced by new ones ( support plates , fender extensions , baffle , etc. ..)
At the car all the sheets was practically were with rust , replaced by new ones.
I restored the car for me and therefore spared no cost or effort .
From the art , all brake pipes + hoses were including the calipers and
renewed the brake discs, the . unchanged even if the fuel lines including pump and nozzle
The engine has undergone a large warehouse service , camshaft, rocker arm shafts ,
Valves , timing chains , main bearings , rod bearings , piston rings , oil pump , water pump were new
including engine gasket and tube seal kit !
Cooler and viscosity are new and in addition an oil cooler in the front with built-in ( from the M6 E24 )
Transmission 5 speed sport was resealed and the Sperrdiff , last I looked still
a probe custom-built stainless steel exhaust system with headers installed.
I think that this is one of the most beautifully restored CSL is , since the mass gap simply
are perfect, but also the usual in the engine compartment botched Knew transitions would
they do not find here . Therefore, here is the price level up , they make an offer einwenig times
There is room , of course, also depends on whether they prefer it with the BBS RS wheels, or at least
want Alpina rims with 16 "or 14"I would appreciate If someone can tell me how much this car is worth based on the description .

Here's the original german email:
Guten Tag,

I would appreciate if someone could tell me how much this car is worth. Here's a link to the photos: http://www.razyboard.com/system/morethread-guenters-golf-csl-hoeni-2144797-5564279-10.html

Thank you so much in advance

you might want to ask for a VIN and check it against the register <www.e9-driven.com> you should ask for a picture of the stamped VIN on the back side of the firewall.

you should also look at photos of the underside of the car, inside the wheel wells and the tops of the fenders ... under the hood. you don't want any surprises for the kind of money a CSL warrants

Andi (aka Orangener) lives in Vienna and knows the car and the seller I believe (Gunter). You can try to contact Andi on this board.

Value will depend largely on condition, you could put a deposit conditional on inspection and go to Austria to determine the condition in detail.

Actually the repaint/restoration can be found here:

based on the pictures I would pack my toothbrush and be off to Vienna..

Good luck.

These cars are getting tough to find. Is golf yellow the original color? If yes, I would say 140-150k USD might be the new going rate. They are just so hard to find. Check to see what the carb CSL does at Amelia next weeks auction. I can't speak for that cars condition, however. Hopefully someone here can see it in person. If it is a good one and nicely restored, I would take its sale price (including the buyers premium) and deduct 25-50k to reach a price for a fuel injected car.

I can say that that a contributor to this forum sold his car for 105k a few years ago, and it was boring silver, but also. Restored and in nice condition. All vintage car prices have shot up since then. Ask me about the e30 M3 I sold two years ago...sigh.
