Mine has two fog light switches too. Maybe it's a city pack CSL and I didn't realize it! Actually neither of them does anything at this point so I think the second was just added for vestigial symmetry.

Unfortunately, that rain channel in the boot/trunk of exactly where you share the photo Markos, when I got to look at the pictures, is like a Monkey screaming from the chandeliers to me. So we should thank the seller for at least that honesty
This is not anything like the crown jewels this seller is misleading people on, it seems a nice car, but not anywhere near the best out there, far from it
As I said in my above post, when I had not had the benefit of seeing the pictures, this car would be better presented by the owner, I now feel that even stronger as the seller is too me actually a negative to the sale - but eh, in this market, who knows - bs seems to be valued higher than honesty and integrity lately

Canepa SHOULD be a positive aspect of the previous rehab work, however, I've visited many times and documented various details of the many e9's under their knife.
Their knowledge/passion for Porsche 959's is unmatched world wide. I'm unsure of their knowledge of e9's as certain elements are overlooked/done incorrectly in many instances.
The shop absolutely does top notch work, and has a sterling reputation. I wish they would hire one of our resident forum experts to bring their e9 game fully up to snuff. I think many P-car guys send their newly acquired e9 over to Canepa thinking that "restoration expertise" is universal - they want only the best for their new toy, after all. (I've seen *many* of Seinfeld's precious P-cars there - he can afford anyone's assistance without a second thought, and they aren't remotely local to him!)
Luckily learning about a new model and fixing little details is one of the most engaging and rewarding aspects of this hobby - at least for the type of enthusiast I most want to chat with at C&C. This should be a fun auction to follow.

They’d (and all non E9 savvy folks) would be well advised to tap into the knowledge of this forum before they get whipped at the sales level, by when it’s almost too late. More so for high priced cars like the L’s.

Agreed. They have probably been somewhat historically ignored by these guys as they routinely deal with $1m+++ level very rare cars/historic race cars.
Now that CSL’s are routinely commanding $250K+, maybe it’s time they take a closer look.
If they do take the time to properly learn these, then apply their top-notch attention to detail and overall expertise to our beloved e9’s - watch out. I’d say we may have another preferred “go-to” shop on the west coast!
The level of detail oriented deep research and fabrication that goes into the full restoration of the Cizeta v16T prototype is not for the faint of heart/inexperienced run of the mill body shop. What a crazy bird that was!

When I was there Glenn had just sold it to Jay I presume and Canepa was doing some minor work I thought. I also saw the Rahal CSL a few years before that was restored by the ‘so called’ expert, it was a mess, even after the Werkshop spent a bunch of time on it. Canepa knows how to fix issues with chrome and such but both CSLs had the much newer style paint sticker, crazy.

Sounds like sales psychology for the general public. 429 cars sounds rarer compares to ttl 1265! For someone who doesn’t know the facts, 1 of 429 sounds like a good investment model along with the Canepa name to assure quality.
Did you see the UK Batmobile for sale……. Asking price 612K$ and those guys aren’t selling a CSL for the first time. Plenty of irregularities for a car in that price range.
Seems like getting the cars to 90% isn’t all that difficult. After 95% it gets tough and that’s when shops hope that the new owners will not know what the last 5% consists off.
As Chris just pointed out, Canepa can do cosmetic work but this particular cars’ inner fenders, trunk area, under body…..all looks 3rd class to me, all in relation to the asking price.

My guess is there is/was a mismatch on the cost to “do it right” at Canepa vs. one of the other e9 specific specialist shops. I have no doubt they could do an absolutely fabulous job if given the time/desire and an open checkbook is my only point. Unfortunately that has not been the case on any of the e9’s I’ve seen there.
I assume most of these are purchased by new to the marque P-car guys who just assume Canepa IS the best, and don’t know who else to use.
*edit* There were three Polaris and one Fjord CSL’s on site that day - let’s send Don over for mechanical training and Chris for the details, and get these guys up to speed!

That fact alone should guarantee that they know what these cars should look like, inside out. That Canepa would allow for a car of this quality to have their name associated to it can’t be good for their reputation. The Rahal CSL had plenty of issues too, specially the extended wheel arches as I recall. But it seems that Canepa is getting more and more into representing CSLs….they'd be well advised to get them selves an expert they can call on.
Like @Markos pointed out, chrome wheel arches painted……. give me a break. That’s insulting towards anyone looking to buy such a car (and not knowing what it should ideally look like) Even if such stuff can be fixed, alone the audacity to expect 300K+ is mind boggling.

I just saw the auction, and read the comments. So I thought I should mention some facts since I was the one who imported the car.
I have included some pictures that the Italian owner had sent me.
1- As you can see the window switches and breakers were there. I would assume that they are correct, since all 73 models were this was, and since this cat was built late 72, would have gotten the later style.
2- It looked as if they had added AC without the correct consul, that I replaced with corrected one.
3- I had the original steering wheel re-rapped in leather, but is it missing now?
4- I put the correct black 5 slat center grill, missing now.
5- I did add the rear spoiler, just liked the look of it.
6- It had the correct wheels.
7- Interior fabric was non original, and I believe Soxrus replaced the seats with correct fabric before selling to Glenn.
8- Sunvisors were correct black.
9- Carpet were correct black.
The CSL was not perfect, but was a solid car.

Merdad, Later motors and switches with circuit breakers were Feb 1973 and later. Door has plugs for sardine motors.
Maybe door plugs replaced manual winders and later motors were added by the PO?

Possible, seems Italian owner replaced and added a few things
The wiring and sockets looks to be untouched . If they did replaced, they did a great job.
