CSL wheels and Karman Badge
I have noticed that I have odd wheels on my car and am unsure as to which are correct.
The 4 that are fitted on the car have only the stud holes and the spare has the stud holes plus 4 more holes… also the spare has FPS stamped on it , the 4 others do not seem to have anything stamped on them.
I am wondering which ones are right.

Also I have found a Karman badge on the A post, it seems nothing is stamped on it, or if there is, it may have been printed on, and I have no ideas what the info should be...
If I clean it up I will probably clean off whatever was printed on it!

Can anyone cast any light on these two problems I have

Thanks

Marc

Look on the backs of the wheels, there should be date codes or markings there.

The Karmann plate shows the color code - it's the number stamped on the bottom line.

wheels etc.

Original CSL Alpina wheels are 7x14. they have only five stud holes and Alpina cast into the front face. Later CSL Alpina wheels are also 7x14 but with 5 extra smaller holes, again with Alpina cast into the front face. Both have Ronal and a date stamp on the back face of the wheel. Yours may be original Alpinas which have been restored in the past and the Alpina markings removed.
BMW (Alpina lookalikes) are usually 6x14 (very occasionally 7x14) made by FPS. They have narrow unridged spokes. Again 5 stud and 5 smaller holes.
Later BMW Lookalikes have ridged spokes.

The E9 bodies were made by Karmann in their Osnabruck factory, hence they have a Karman badge on the Left hand a post.
