I have seen both non painted silver metal Cylinder Head Covers and also many E9s with Black painted covers with the etched out BMW logo.

Was wondering did BMW ever deliver E9 models with the black painted versions or are these all after market improvements and only for cosmetic reasons?

Personally I think the black looks good, but I guess there is a downside to this if it is not origional spec?

I prefer what HB Chris says. I'm definitely not going for 100-point OEM stock. I only have a 2800cs.

Ithink the black really loooks better as it highlights the logo and stripes
but i dont think the black is oem
its yours do what you like

with a black car, i don't want anymore black in the engine compartment. i need to have mine bead / media blasted and ceramic coated to keep oily fingerprints, etc. off of it.

i occasionally polish mine with a rag of marine wax in one hand and a glass of wine in another, keeps it clean easily

Yeah Steve ... we always new you have style. have you recovered from having the gold + silver medals in the same garage. need to get your buddy's verona to come visit too.

no style from me, just that it's relaxing to shine it up as part of the sunday night ritual. The tri-color photos will be coming in due course
