Would a cylinder head from a 1991, 535i, E34, M30B35 engine, be a straight swap onto my original 1972 carbed M30 engine? Any mods needed, or are there some differences that I should know about? Thanks for your input. Mike

Why do you need a new head?
Good question. Someone local heard of my recent travails with my current valve noise and offered this head that had new rockers and such. the car he intended to revive was sold and this unit became surplus. In my search here I was confused if this could work, and was pleased to find the answer. My preference is always to repair what I have, but this was simply a temptation that I wanted to confirm would work or not.

What kind of top end noise do you have? I think rockers and rocker bars are interchangeable, even when the heads themselves are not, someone please confirm or deny this

So the head you are offered may be a good source of parts?

On a previous m30 car I had excessive tappety noise, which I think was due to the rocker bars being slightly misaligned, and the so the rockers were not striking the valve stems dead centre.
