I long ago installed front and rear dashcams on my daily (F25) driver. On the front cam, I used a step-down transformer to tap into and convert the 12v line that powers the mirror/rain sensor to provide the cam a 5v power source. It's a lot cleaner than snaking a line down to the cigarette lighter.
I'd like to do the same with my E9 - except tap into the dome light as a power source.
