Dash Insert Removal

The fake wood insert on my dash has a couple of splits. If I can find a replacement, what is involved in removing this ?. For example, are the ventilation control knobs easy to remove ?. Does the clock need to be removed ?. Does the insert lever out or is it retained by screws/nuts from the rear ?.

Here you go. Even though your wheel is on the wrong side, it should still mirror...;-)...they unbolt as shown and the knobs just pull off. I tested on one to be sure again. My plan is to gently remove the veneer and add new wood to it, sand and varnish to a nice gloss. I'm a woodworker by trade, but I don't think this would be difficult work...just a bit fiddly..

That's great, thanks. I have seen LHD inserts on ebay but they can't be used on RHD unfortunately.
