Dash speaker upgrade

I just had two small midrange speakers installed in the old speaker location. They lift the sound up from the footwells where my current speakers are located and were a great improvement. I know many audiophiles like to dismiss the importance of speakers in this location as they are not separated enough for peak performance. Bottom line is this greatly improved the performance of my upgraded stereo. Gave it a much more modern sound without the need to perform an overly custom install.

my cayman s has a center speaker right below the windshield ... it does help fill the sound and give it a fuller expression. now if i could figure out how to best wire a speaker there, i might put one in again (which channel).

From autobahn's blog and recommended by Carl Nelson, I just ordered the Alpine SPS-406. Said to be a perfect fit and it is about as close as you could find. The only slight problem is that the center of the speaker (tweeter?) sits just far enough out that I couldn't quite push the cover all the way in. Very close though, maybe 1/16 in. I think I can carefully route out the area where the speaker ears attach and fix that problem.
