Thinking a more modern color.

e.g.:

BMW's Azurite Blue:

Atlantik for comparison:

My 2800 not a rare car, so looking for something not so boring and new-ish. But not willing to do a complete change of color (e.g. red or black or silver).

I think the colors with the pearl tend to do best on cars with aggressive hips and curves, as it promotes the scattering (or refraction) of light, i.e., as seen above by rear wheel fender in first and fourth images.

I think the deeper colors, sans pearl, show a little better and richer on e9s and O2s that do not have flares, etc.

I did a search for BMW E9 colors and funnily enough this pic came up in the search results and I am looking at the small image in the search result going "that is my car!". So I clicked on the link and indeed it is my 2800cs that day I brought it home after buying it. Just for clarity, the car isn't Atlantik blue. The prior owner resprayed it some 20 years ago to "Marine Blue". While I have the invoice for the job by the colision shop stating that as the color, sadly it does not reference whose Marine blue it is because a number of manufacturers have a color named Marine blue. I have included another pick below with more light hitting the car to give an idea of what this color does in light. It is very nice and suits the car well.

But the main reason I respond is so that if you were looking for an example in Atlantik blue then you will have to find another reference :)

Given that much time has passed since this thread, did you end up making a choice?

After that pic how can you imagine painting it another color? It's beautiful as is, set off well by the chrome in various places, something modern cars almost completely lack.

For reference, I'm not a huge fan of Chamonix so I decided to go with Chamonix on my E3. ;)

I would not change from Atlantik
i agree ... atlantik is an awesome color. if you change the hood / fender grilles to chrome it will be more correct with a 2800cs and it will add a bit of contrast (bling). then changing the wheels to bbs rs will really complement the look
