I found the culprit. My ignition switch has fallen apart. The plastic has separated from the metal base. Fortunately, I found the two little copper plates
and the two springs. I will put it back together and press and glue it back in place. Hope it will work because a new one is like 220 bucks. Thanks to all for the help.

That was the most likely outcome...
220 dollars and lasts 50 years is pretty cheap.
