No luck searching for this...anybody know if it is possible to remove the left (driver side) defrost vent without removing any gauges? I have removed the top of the dash (for another project) and now seems to be a good time to replace the cracked defrost vent in my '74 CS, with AC, but it seems impossible without at least removing the Tach (which I suppose I could do, but...)Thanks for any help...

Hi Bill, I've been working to put my dash back together and I tried to install that vent from below with gauges and center heater/AC console already in place. After many attempts over too much time, I realized that the vent cant make the turn no matter how many angles I tried. My frustration was mounting and I was at risk of breaking the vent so I gave up that approach (bottom up) and decided to go through the top instead. I pulled out the gauge cluster and dropped it in. It was in within 15min. Pulling the cluster required disconnecting the speedo cable. Once the two nuts were off the back and speedo cable removed, the vent easily slides in. My dash top was also off which might have helped as well. Good luck!

Just as I thought...I tried maneuvering the vent every possible way, with no luck. I figured the gauge cluster would have to be removed. Piece of cake...
Thanks Tom!
