Haven’t been happy with the down draft weber conversion at all (my stock Bavaria from back in the day could smoke my coupe for sure) so I pulled the Zenith carbs off the Bavaria parts car engine I had. The good news is the parts car had the air cleaner installed so the inside of the carburetors remained dry. The bad news is the parts car was in a field for 2 winters so everything on the outside has slight rust and the seized fasteners that go along with it .

My friend that helps me 1 or 2 days a week thinks the best thing I could do is submerge these carburetors in diesel fuel for a week or two but I’m not so sure. Any thoughts, pro or con are much appreciated. THANKS ~ John Buchtenkirch

IMHO

do not dip the carbs as they are
at least save the big rubber membranes before doing this (big round lateral part)
and remove the electric parts, choke, and air valve if present
