I discovered a torn guibo on the 2800 on Sunday (thanks to Mike Pelly) which would have failed on the way to Monterey. Early sedans and coupes use a guibo with 10mm bolts, not 12mm which is a very common size. Carl Nelson came to the rescue, there were none in the US.

<You'd be surprised by how far you can drive with a broken guibo.>

Mine came apart at about 65mph with my son in the car....made a hell of a noise as debris flung against the tunnel but I made it home.

Yikes!!! Glad you caught it, Chris. Thanks for the bolt size difference on an early car; I'll certainly keep a good spare and hardware for the '67.

Mine came apart in Phoenix and I drove to the Bay Area. As long as I was going over about 55 it rode well, below that there was considerable vibration. Lost another one going from the Bay Area to Canada, and drove about 500 miles before I pulled into my brother-in-law's garage in Washington state to repair it.
