My distributor has a double vacuum but has no vacuum lines. Any particular distribution wrt which carb? Logic says no since the carbs will eventually be synced. Also possible dumb question but I will upgrade to an electronic ignition system and does this have any impact on the vacuum or need for it ?

You should at least have a vacuum advance line from the pointed side of the distributor to the carb above the butterfly. The back side of the distributor can is retard and is hooked to the manifold below the butterfly.
Cap the retard, use the advance from a carb takeoff above the throttle plate (ported vacuum) as Chris mentioned
