I had one of these $10 parts on order with ECS for months, and without it I couldn't mount the external rear side window chrome trim.

This is the part, it goes on top of the quarter panel, screws to the pinch seam, then the trim goes over top with a screw you can see once the door is open.

I had seen moldable thermoplastic used in a youtube video on Audi Q7 sunroof drain repair. They are small plastic beads that become moldable in semi-hot water.

No mold release needed. I put the trim with the plastic still inside into the freezer for 10 minutes or so and it came out easily.

Working the plastic can be a little difficult, drilling or cutting it gets it hot enough to become pliable again, so you have to improvise. But overall, a good solution for this type of plastic part.
