Hey all,

New to the forums and proud new owner of a sahara bav. Two quick questions.

The first is in the title of this post and the second is:

What is the best options to lower your bav?

The first and easiest option is to remove the spacer from the top of the front strut.
The best option is to get a set of springs specifically made to lower the car.

The cheapest option is to remove some active coils from your existing springs. For my Bav I inherited some aftermarket springs with the car, and cut the rear springs to match the height of the front after I dumped the spacer.

Thanks Mike.

How about my first question?

I'm assuming the lower lip will fit because the fronts look so similar.

For lowering the expensive way you can use the kit sold by Ireland Engineering:
http://www.iemotorsport.com/bmw/E9-E3-suspension-steering/e9frtcoil.html

Use springs supplied by them for front and rear. Bilstein HD struts/shocks front and rear.

If you go the spring route only as Mike suggested, you can use B&G progressive (which are really nice) or ST (which are not progressive but decent lowering springs). The Ireland approach is the most controlled method and will get you exactly what you want.

Regarding a spoiler, I purchased one of these from Coupe King:
http://www.coupeking.com/?post_type=parts&p=4875

and they show that it fits an E9 so they may be interchangable because here is the same mounted on an E3:

If you are going to lower the front suspension then you 'should' put spacers between the strut and lower control arm to compensate for taking the bump steer out of the suspension design.

Autobahn makes a great set of springs for an E3 that just slightly lower it.

The 'Alpina Style' spoiler from Coupe King is a bolt on; I have an original Alpina spoiler on my E3 Alpina.

btw, just don't hit a wabbit at 120 mph like I did once! It really turns the front of the car into an Alexander Calder design!
