Aardvark has a set of the two door card panels - shaped and drilled for 125 bucks for the pair.

just in case anybody is in need ... no idea of the fit ...
I have been eye-balling these for at least a year. Would love to hear from anyone that has used these. I think they look pretty good from the pics and description, and $125 seems very reasonable to re-build/build a set of door cards.

Have used their 2002 plywood backing cards with great success. So if these are the same fit as the originals they should be fine.

I just bought a set from him few weeks ago. Ave not had a chance to install them yet. But the plywood used isvery thin and rather weak looking! It may work jut fine .... I will post more in few weeks once I get a chance to install it.

Plywood? Mine were made of cardboard and have turned into papier mache. I tried to mimic them in MDF but that won't work as not enough structural strength.

I like the plywood idea though.

I hope all of those panels are made with B/BB or B/CP grade "baltic birch" plywood (3mm or 6mm).
Compared to the usual plywood, this stuff is resistant to moisture, and stronger for any given thickness.

As Andrew says, lots of us in the 2002 world use the Aardvarc replacement door card backers. I have a set awaiting the "next" project. They do appear to be Baltic Birch and plenty stout for the application. Some folks have coated them with a sealant for added protection against moisture....not a bad idea, and easily accomplished before installing the vinyl.

I would recommend them.

A good coat of higher sheen (gloss/semi-gloss) latex works pretty well. Quick job except painting the insides of all of the holes. I also sanded the edges and holes (sandpaper wrapped around a Bic pen) before painting .
