My sending unit appears to be a bit different than other units I have seen. Mine has about a 11/2 long "foot" on the bottom and without a pre pump/To make matters worse, mine does not bolt to the tank, but rather. twists in. HELP any condition will work as I can send it out to be rebuilt

Bert - does your unit have 1 out pipe or 1 out / 1 return pipe?

I have multiples of these. No need to look elsewhere. If necessary I can put an E28 one in for the short term.
On E12/24/28 they’re all the same for the Euro cars except for post 9/82 3.5s have an in-tank pump. The only difference is the connector.
