Based on what I've read about the clutch MC replacement options, I shipped an e21 clutch MC (part number 21 52 1 150 449) to the mechanics doing the work on the '74. They are telling me they can't get it to fit. I can't find any definitive write-up about adapting this MC for use on the coupe. Is there such a thread?

It could be as simple as unthreading and swapping your eyebolt onto the new master? But I seem to be an expert on sending people off in the wrong direction...

All clutch masters are now clocked to the right about 25 degrees. On my e9 I had to tap the edge of the booster mount opening in the firewall to get it to sit flat, then bend the alu clutch pipe a little bit. It should work.

I use the e12 Version- did you reverse the e21 numbers?

I use the e12 Version
Yes indeed! It looks like that part cross references to the e21, 5 series, .... It must have become a generic part somewhere along the way.

I called Jim at Mesa Performance and he is sending one directly to the shop for installation. We had a great conversation about the 35 Bavarias he has owned and racing them. He is a great resource for our vintage BMWs.

Thanks to all for your insights!
