Bring-A-Trailer featured this '88 M5 in Sarasota, FL with some issues.
Seems like seller is asking $4,500, but I bet there's a lot of wiggle room.
If the S38 and tranny are in working order, this could be the basis for a swap because you'll obviously have the complete wiring loom.

I'd offer $2,500 assuming that you'd be on the hook for a $5k rebuild.

S38 rebuild

$5K maybe if you do it yourself. North of $10K if sourced and done properly depending upon how extensive

I was just throwing a guess with $5k. I suppose $10k shouldn't surprise me, given the complexity and scarcity of talent and parts.
I'm glad I don't have to worry about that rebuild!
