Checked the tech section, did a search, no results. So, does the e3 suffer from the same rust areas as an e9? Specifically the front fenders and the spot (area #1 in the tech diagram) behind the shock towers? I'm looking at one of those listed in the "cars" section but am unfamiliar with e3's

Also at the bottom corners of the doors.

Fortunately, the E3's did not have places where water checks in and never checks out as the E9's have!

Front and rear fender lips, base of doors, shock towers, front cowl, around rear lenses, trunk around the gas tank flange where BMW put a stupid sponge, vertical lip of hood directly in front (shell with internal support, crap gets stuck between them). Also crap gets stuck in front fender up toward the front corner turn signals.

Bottom line, go onto Bimmerforums and look up E24 and there should be info on pre purchase stuff somewhere. The E3 and E24 are the same (as all bmw's seem to be).

I had two E3's. One was a complete rust bucket and it rusted out at the headlights, door bottoms, rear wheel arches and under the chrome side trim. The other was very rust free but still had an issue in the rear strut mount area where the inner wheel housing meets the trunk floor..
