E3's for Sale in the USA (edited title 20250917)

i will be in spring, tx a week from now. there is the 1st ever Michelin starred barbecue joint there, also the best donuts in the state of texas (different places) ... and barbecue is fighting words in texas. so we are going to find out if the brisket is as good as i would expect. not going to look at an e3, sorry ...

'72 M30B35 E3 project in Wisconsin. This might be fun...

I thought those were Racing Dynamics rims, but they're 16" Mille Miglia according the seller...

They are Mille Miglia MMIIs. I just put a set with new tires on my E12, which promptly decided it *really* didn’t want to rally and liberated a cooling fan blade.

This one just appeared today:

At first glance it looks good. Upon further inspection, the car is a mess.

What do you see? I just took my first look through the photos and I see:

-front seats were redone by the seller, quality/fitment looks fine but not great. seam on the inside of the driver's seatback bolster really stands out. Otherwise interior looks fine.

-paint appears to have been done without removing any trim. Probably looks good from 8-10 feet, not so much up close. This matters to some people, not to others. Overall looks like a quickie job

-single-carb intake

What do you see?
While there is always “some” overspray when a car is painted, the paint job on this car is just sloppy.
This photo does not give me the impression that paint job is any better than a Maaco $499 special:

Besides the carburetor mystery
It appears the power steering pump and fluid reservoir are MIA
Unnamed rear sway bar
Floors appear to have some repairs
Rear fender wells in the trunk don’t look right
Brake calipers look old & rusty
Not a big deal but the e39 m5 wheels are not a good look IMHO
This car screams for a PPI.

At least it’s no reserve.

Oh, and what the heck is that thing on the roof?
