Closed the trunk the other day and heard a metallic clacking sound

Looking for toolbox, too expensive everywhere, guys please help!

I would say to help that situation would be to lay a nice aot of clear epoxy to the inside of both tray pieces and also the back of the tray that attaches to the trunk lid.
 
In addition to the epoxy if you’re looking for an-between fix you can pick up a plastic welding gun with tips for under $30 online. It heats up metal staples that bridge across a break and brings the edges together like staples on an incision. Actually worked better than expected for some items around the house and might provide some additional structural support here
 
I had good luck using fiberglass cloth then JB weld, then sanding. The fiberglass gives it strength. AND make sure to get tool roll HBChris recomended this and I love it

Thanks guys for the tips! Replacement is crazy expensive - I opted for 3d scan + print… I will let you know how good it turns out - I am making 2 because I have a friend that has the same problem :)

BMW did make new versions a few years ago. They went for 450-isch euro, and were sold out out within a year or so.
So yep, it is an expensive break up.
That's why, too late, sorry, the advice is to not have your tools in there while driving. I kept them in a tool roll from an old BMW motorcycle (you can pick them up for 20 euro or so) and then stick it in the storage bin next to the fuel filler hose.

I'd be interesed in your remains of the deceased box. I think i can use partS of it to fix other broken boxes i have; the plastic dissolves quite well and allows for strong bonds to be made.

Pretty bad condition at the moment... when I scan it I will post the detailed photos...
