Hi guys,

I have been putting together this project for some time and thought now would be a good time to share it with you.

To make a long story short, there is an image above and you will find more on this website www.mofaraz.com and catalog which tells more about the process www.mofaraz.com/pages/catalog

The works cover bmw 2002 and NK cars too, and there is also a decal set for dashboard buttons.

I will be updating this with more information as I go along, please feel free to post your comments on this thread.

Thanks again to everyone on this forum and enjoy reading.

I prefer not be subject to commercial promotions in the Discussion section. Even if you label them as art, the moment you take me to a commerce site, the art moniker becomes irrelevant, it is a business.

Arde, I am sorry to hear your opinion, but your comments seem inappropriate to post on this thread. In the future, you may want to start your own thread to posts comments such as these.

Thanks,

MF

I don't have an issue with what you are doing (maybe it should be in the Classifieds as you are a vendor) but if you are going to invite comment and then say the comments are "inappropriate to post on this thread" you are more than a little conflicted in your statements.

Is my comment also inappropriate and should I start my own thread? Should every comment on your post be made be a separate thread? Could there be a less productive way to engage the members of this forum?

Ok Guys before this gets out of hand, I will set some ground rules.

Why do people post a "pre-order" and get no negative responses. I have seen them in the discussion section.....seems like a double standard.

Granted I am not directly calling this a pre-order, but the website does.

Please use good judgment when posting a comment on THIS thread. I am sorry, but working on something for a long time and getting backlash does not make sense.

My rule of courtesy is if you have a negative comment, please do not post it on another person's thread. You can start your own and vent.

If you would like to ask questions, compliment, or talk about how/why it done, then post it here.

I hope I have cleared the air.

MF

I would also like to ad, if anyone want's inquire directly about my artwork, then I would be more than happy to reply pm or via thread.

These can be viewed as 'pre-order' items, I originally wanted to screen print only, but figured that if we have to buy shirts anyway....then why not have them be BMW based?

Regards,

MF

MF, Ok, so we can, "compliment, ask questions, talk," but we can't engage in a back and forth about your business. I have been involved in a number of "back and forth" postings all on the same thread. Some of them have gotten fairly heated. All eventually resolved.

Nobody owns or controls a thread. We post with the understanding we may no like what others post.

You may want to consider decoupe's suggestion about posting under classifieds. That is obviously your choice, but don't be surprised if no one is willing to start of new thread.

I actually wanted to open a discussion about this, this is not a product, although it must be sold and marketed as such--that is not my intention.

It is a process, so not sure if its a classifieds product, but I will not argue with the crowd.

I find it interesting, its always easier to critique and take something apart than to build and put it back together. I understand I am relatively new to this, but I would like to work with others under my own style--that add's beauty to this process.

Also, I am not here to police anyone, but a constructive comment, one that builds is great, a negative comment, one that takes away or does not build is very hard to justify.

MF

MF, it seems to me you are selling a product. It may be a work of art, creative, original, unique. But it is still a tangible product with a price and, I assume, some profit.
Rereading the threads I find no one critiquing or offering a critical review of the art you are selling.
I like the designs, and may purchase one. The issue here is should you be posting in Classifieds or perhaps Parts? I think I remember someone selling tee shirts under Parts a while back.

If you are thick-skinned and brave enough you may even want to ask for opinions about the art work on your shirts. Be prepared.

Steve

Hey guys,

I would like to apologize, maybe even give a big bear hug to everyone..... You guys have all been very helpful, some things do get lost in the translation.

So again, sorry. It is always a privilege to post and talk to you guys, and certainly not worth tainting or tarnishing in any way.

As for the works, thanks for posting what you think. If I am asking for your time/business/money, then by all means you have every right to discuss your thoughts.

Personally, the art style is 'simple & bold', I am constantly learning and trying to improve. (some details are missing, but that's the particular style I went with...)

The button graphics should fit any car really, I designed them to resemble BMW euro graphics as on my own car. They are a rub-transfer and probably should be clear-coated if under heavy-use.

Anyways, I will be honest, these would need a fair amount of interest to be made, for now they are a prototype pre-order and I appreciate all of your interest.

I am not sure how to move a thread, maybe start a new one? Again, I would like to respect other users wishes.

Thanks all,

MF

I certainly wasn't offended that this is in general discussion but off-topic is probably the best area, they certainly aren't parts.

:)

I agree with Chris in that I was not offended that this is in the General Discussion section.

Weren't the promotion of the E9 grill badge posted in this section a couple of years ago and not in the Off Topic section? Those badges are also not a 'part' but art to be affixed on the grill.

I organized the last two E9 grill badge runs over the past years. The first run, probably in the late 70s, was handled by Art Wegweiser. I believe with BMW's approval, since the Registry/er was a BMW sanctioned organization. (The debate about er vs ry was quite interesting for the historians.
I did not make a dime on either run and only broke even when I sold the extra badges I ordered and paid for myself. I have a day job that pays the bills.

I don't remember which section I posted in, probably the one where I thought I would get the biggest response.

Are they a "part" or "art" or both? I will leave that to those of you who are interested in how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

If you have read this far you may be interested to know that if there is enough interest I would do it again. I got to chat with Coupe owners all over the world? I love seeing photos like those from the recent "Vintage" with badges affixed to the noses of a number of cars. The most interesting story during the last run was the guy who bought a2800 thinking he would order a badge. Surprise, he found one from Art's original run lying behind the grill. I believe the minimum order is 75 and they might come with small key fobs and lapel pins(how quaint) with a smaller version of the badge. The price, including postage, will be in the $40-50. range. I have not seen a badge for sale in a long time. The last one went for well over $100. and that was without the charming key fob and pin.

If you are interested, contact me at [email protected]

Steve, Scott, Chris, Andre, thanks for your comments. I would like to post a general run-down about the project below:

Shirts (we all have to wear something!)
1. Gildan 2000 100% cotton (I have a Yale shirt like this, its a good material but not as fancy as American apparel )
2. I would need at least 25 orders in each design (e9, 2002, NK)
3. Each shirt is essentially made-to-order as I do not plan on printing many extras.
4. I would suggest buying more than one if interested as I am planning on printing only once.

Posters (this is my 'baby' and would appreciate it if became reality)
1. Printed on heavy paper (probably French poster paper)
2. Pantone color match, and will be made in NY---the artist is very good at printing.
3. Would probably need at least 25 orders in each design (e9,2002,NK)
4 Shipped in a poster tube.
5. Original intention was if you have a cool shop/garage, or office/den, then this would look neat on the wall.

Button Graphics (think of these as high quality decals used in scale models)
1. Dry transfer, rub-type
2. Would need at least 30 orders to make, and will fit all round BMW buttons without graphics.
3. Installation instructions included, but will take skill to center the image.

For now, I plan on organizing orders and if I can reach the goals, then its probably 2-3 weeks to have them made, then I can ship.

I will elaborate more on any topic including payment and shipping, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Looking at the immediate transition from apology to selling I think the best product one could buy from the poster are elephant skins for the trunk. I am sure they will be way thicker than OEM and last forever.

My opinion stands, the internet is a cesspool of targeted advertising. Hell if I will invite more of that here. Always respectfully.

I would suggest that anything that is for sale other than a car should go in the parts section, unless the administrator wants to start another link that is a non-parts sales section.....I haven't been here long, but there are a lot of things for sale that end up in the general discussion section, such as Rob's signed book for sale link (The Hack Mechanic), no offense meant Rob, I have enjoyed reading you in the Roundel for longer than I can remember.....or perhaps if someone doesn't like the listing, they can simply ignore it? THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR ENJOYMENT, IMHO.

I agree, I think some of the confusion is this:

This is a labor of love and I thought I would debut the ideas and designs here with some true fans. I am setting prices for everything, but it's only because the people making the items for me are asking for $$.

I have had some of these ideas since college and wanted a way to make them into reality....I could sell to vendors, but that's like buying these items from a dealer vs. original owner....

I am also not enthusiastic about others posting for personal gain, but bear in mind what I am trying to gain here: not much profit and it will probably go back into a car fund of some sorts.

Anyway, I have yet to get the ball rolling. My original plan was to gauge interest and set-up a list for pre-order. That is entirely up to those who use this forum, and thanks all for their input.
