E9 Foot rest

One more question?

Pulled this contraption out of the Cs when I bought it because it prevented the carpet from fitting correctly.

Now I'm wondering if this was factory installed in the car. Did E9's come with driver foot rests?

I know my '74 does not have one, and I can't remember for certain, but I don't think my '73 or '71 had one either (departed 35 years ago).

I fabricated one that I will be installing in the '74, as I'm so used to them that 'it doesn't seem right' not to have one!

I think it was original, I have these in my 1971 2800 cs and some pieces was left in my 1974 3.0 csi

my 2800cs has them (different shapes) on both sides of the car. these tend to break apart over time. i believe there is a pair for sale on ebay right now that look to be in pretty good shape.

Thanks for the input and luckely I didn't trough it in the bin yet.

Any chance of seeing some picture of how exactly it should be positioned?

It it just sitting there or should it be fixated in some way?
