Hey all,

I'm not an e9 owner, but I do own a 1974 2002 BMW. After seeing an email from a BMW parts supplier (who I won't name) I saw they were selling an ignition switch and wires for an E9. It said the part was new old stock NLA from BMW, and their sales price was $289.00.

The part looked familiar so I went into my garage to a location where I have spare parts and found that I have an E9 ignition switch. Mine varies slightly from the pic I saw in the email, because mine doesn't have the metal casing around the switch. I can't make out the part number clearly on the cloth tape label.

But it's the same switch and color coded wires. Rotating my switch, it does turn correctly and all of the wires are intact. If anyone is looking for an e9 ignition switch, I'll sell mine for $125.00 + shipping using PayPal. I noticed Turner Motorsport sells one like mine for $196.59 + tax. Message me if interested.

Barry

Im sorry- you have missed showing a clear picture of the condition of the opening of the switch where the lock cylinder connects. To my eye it looks like it could be worn out.

A 7 wire switch for an e9? I don’t think I have ever seen that.

correct opening shape of good switch:

To be clear - you are not selling an e9 switch and it appears to be worn.

a brand new substitute is available for less than what you are asking.

Thanks for those clarifications Don. I guess I don't need the switch after all.
