The seller is apparently local to me on FB but the car is apparently in Germany so apparently I have decided to post here for apparent discussion:

$315k

NMNA

i show 3 turkis CSL with sequential VIN - 2275256, 257 + 258. 256 was sold by fantasy junction in the USA in 2010 - current whereabouts unknown, 257 was in the Netherlands in 2021 and 258 was sold by coupeguy in 2009. if i'm not mistaken, 258 was bought by a guy with a questionable past who now lives in the Sarasota area.

264 is turkis and was in Germany in 2014. 428 was sold in Germany in late 2024 but has the engine from 058 in it - 428 is supposedly a lightweight car. 480 was in Germany in 2024 (originally polaris but i believe is now painted turkis).

overall the car looks pretty good ... says its being sold by Matthias Saretzky. would be very curious what the actual VIN is for this car.

Very nice car for sure but that's a top shelf and then some price. The ad says they will ship anywhere in the world for the listed price. Heck, they could afford to ship it air freight anywhere in the world for that kind of money. I do have a question though. I do see a big ole brake booster in there. Did the later series cars have the "city package" with the booster and power steering or was that an item that was spec'd by the original buyer?

Depending on the condition and whether or not is has the original engine I do wonder if you couldn't replicate it from a nice CSL for a lot less.

lets just say that there are numerous things that make me wonder if its really a CSL or a CS being made to look like one. the brake booster threw me for a loop. the guy says its numbers matching, but 10 hours later, i don't have the VIN. i would be happy seeing just the last 4 numbers - if it doesn't fall into the correct range we know something is bogus. and we know there weren't a lot of turkis CSL built. so in one case the VIN might be for another color ... will be curious if its a car we know something about already. this is one of those reasons why i created the ancestry project.

Really dig the color.

Just wondering - why only advertise it on FB, with the presumption that it will be sold in the US?

Isn't the market is bigger?
Also, trying to sell the car where it is located, so one could visit, would seem (more) logical to me.

@tdgray that is exactly where i am ... scam with pictures of a pretty car. its been 21 hours with no response on the VIN request. sent another message asking about the VIN ... since i know of 5 turkis CSL, my guess is that there were only 9 to 12 made.

i have since been told that it is a non-matching numbers CSL - supposedly the engine came from an Austrian CSL. this is the info for the Czech Republic restoration shop - 4 pics of CSi, but no CSL.

okay, so its 2275428 and therefore has the engine from 2275058 in it. doubtful that this car was restored by the Czech shop as it was sold on 10-19-2024 at the Humer Granner auction (Vienna) for 230k euro

not sure this is a real lightweight, looks like the torsion bar hold opens have been removed. it also has the wrong 4 slat center grille. it has regular glass windshields and windows (rear defroster is a good giveaway)

.

isn't the little hook mid bottom of the lid for the trunk torsion bar? usually that is part of the steel lid.

Dude would have to answer all of those questions and more… I’m leaning towards scam.
I didn't want to be the one saying this is a possible scam, but the red flags were waiving early. "If" and I mean "if" it is a scam, in case it is, someone has some big huevos on them to try and sell a car like this as a scam.

They should know that anyone interested in something like this would do their due diligence on a CSL for that amount of money (or any car of this caliber). "If" it is, that is crazy to me...but not surprising either...sad that it is the way it is these days. Hate to say it.
