E9 Radiator Rebuild - Excellent Work!

If you need your E9 radiator rebuilt, then I can highly recommend an Armenian craftsman, Paul, in Santa Ana CA that does excellent work! Complete rebuild for $250.

I dropped off the radiator @ 10:00AM and picked up the finished product @ 3:30PM the same day. :cool:

Paul rebuilt multiple radiators for me: BMW E9, Porsche 928-S4, Jensen Interceptor, BWW E10, Pontiac GTO, BMW E31

Are those before or after photos of the radiator? Can you detail what work was done to it? It looks like there are a bunch of bent core fins.

I have a spare radiator that I'd love to get re-cored while it's on the shelf.

When I took in my radiator yesterday, the focus was on the leaks that I had on the left side of the radiator and that side was removed and silver soldered and the internals cleaned. The core fins are in decent shape, and we decided to concentrate on the leaks. Paul showed me photos of what we had done.

I would recommend that you give Paul and call (714) 835-4744 and he will give you a detailed explanation of the work he will do based on your radiator needs. Paul will take photos of the rebuild process, so you know exactly what you are getting for your money. Cheers mate!

i bought a new Behr copper radiator (early e24 for a/c) from BMW for about 500 to 600 bucks about 3 to 4 years ago.
 
I love having old-school radiator shops available. My E12's original radiator developed a small leak, they fixed it for little money in a day. When the cooling fan exploded and punched the radiator, I thought it was going to need to be either recored or replaced, but they called me a day later and said it's good to go, come pick it up. Cost me like $100.
 
isn't that the truth. i took my metal coolant tanks to a shop a week ago and picked them up this week. all sealed, put together and badly painted. so i'm busy removing the paint off of one of them (carefully) so i can repaint it nice and smooth.
 
should be a satin black. i was wondering if i could use a trim paint or whether it needs to be a heat tolerant paint. what have you guys used? one thing i do know, don't powder coat it ...

I used a satin black on mine, didn’t opt for heat resistant specifically. Looks good. Although looking at some of the brass ones maybe I want to blast it and polish it….

Blasting will wreck it- too soft.
 
Every second you use rough sandpaper on that tank you will spend minutes getting rid of the scratches
