E9 rear bumper over-rider

These are pictures of the bumpers from a 1971 2800 CS. Notice the protruding bumper mounts brace. They stick out about an inch or so. This type attaches to the car direct (no bracket). The bumpers for 3.0 CS the brace is recessed, and has from what I remember , I think only one bolt on the bumper side. It requires that look number bracket.
The pictures from the trunk are from the 71 2800 CS I am restoring now. That should give you an idea .

I could really use a right-hand item #7. It is the rubber space that goes between the body and the under-rider on a USA 1973 3.0CS.

Many thanks! That helps me a lot!

I picked up bumpers today, tomorrow I will try to mount them.

Overall are in good condition and since the car needs to be restored the goal is to get all the missing parts and get it in driving condition before restoration. I would really like to go for a spin or 2 so that I don’t lose interest.

All holders inside protective mouldings are gone will try to find some solution to temporary attach mouldings since also new rubber will be needed eventually.

it looks like you need the tracks for the rubber to mount to. on each of the curved pieces / entire rear bumper.

So tracks for rear are part. no. "15? And i suppose the metal inside the rubber can only be bought with rubber part?

no, the metal is sold separately and must be attached to the bumper ... then the rubber attached to the metal. the metal tends to rust over time.

I think you have the earlier style which is easier to install . It would bolt right on to the car. I would assume since your car is 74 European model it might take slightly longer bolts. Which is not a big deal.
I don't see the bumper end plastic body protectors in your photo. May be you have them in the bag. But you have all the important parts...
Good luck

It is the item 20 in the diagram. This is on the earlier version which is what I think yours is.
W&N has this piece as well .

Installed both bumpers... was having some problems with drilling holes since they welded them when they were re-spraying the car :/

Also I made my own support metal rails (rostfrei material it will never rot again). Bumper should be re-chromed and new rubbers have to be installed but this is not in the plan right now since whole car needs to go under restoration process which I can not afford right now.

I like your approach of getting the car running and deciding what and how to do during restoration. Also making sure the bumper gap on both side is proper and it’s nicely level. This way if there is any warping or twisting of the body it will show. It is a very common problem with E9 if they get hit in the rear end they tend to get warped and may not show until you get all aspect of the gaps , levels , heights and such measured!

Tony, it appears that in your photos the mount-through holes for the bumper have not yet been drilled in the rear panels?
Ah, thanks for the subsequent photos... all is clear.

That is correct ! We had a rusted lower section that we patched from W& N panels . At the time of the photo we figured we first make sure we have not much of a body work left before we drill the hole...
