E9 vs 2002 steering wheel nub

Quick question: Will a steering wheel hub that worked on a 2002 work on an E9. By "work" I mean fit on the splines and cancel the turn indicators.

Splines are the same. I have an E9 wheel in my 2002. Turn signal canceling is the same on both, a ring with a tab that centers on the pin that extends from the turn signal stalk.

Horn mechanism is different. On the E9 the brass ring is on the steering wheel and the carbon pin is on the column. On the 2002 the carbon pin is on the steering wheel and the brass ring is on the steering column.
 
Larry, you may need to get a specific E9 hub or modify the hub you have to attach the brass ring.

I just looked at my Alpina steering wheel with a 2002 hub, it has the turn signal cancel tab and carbon pin as part of the hub.
