Early e24 LSD - Will it fit?

I have access to a 3.10 LSD from an early e12 based 633i - will it fit my 73 Bavaria without issue?

It's quite a distance away at a parts supply place, but someone local is up there now and willing to bring it back...

It's probably actually a 3.07 ratio diff but yes it's a dead bolt in.

That is not a filter. It is a expansion chamber for returning fluid back into the diff during hot environment. Make sure it mates well to the diff or you will have a fluid leak.
I have the same diff in my e9.
Change the fluid before installing into your car, much easier.
Might want to change your diff mount while there also.

Because it is a major pain to change it after putting a new diff in. After 40+ years, most of the original ones have virtually rotted away.

Here's a good tutorial on why you need to check your diff mount. E3/E9/E12 and early E24's that have been modified with high performance motors need to have their diff mounts checked often.
