The e28 in line pump is smaller in diameter then the original pump and the bracket will not work. You can order a bracket for an e12 inline pump which fits tight in to the mounting tabs under the car. The bracket is identical with 2 exceptions-
1.the e28 pump fits
2. The bracket also has a fitting for a fuel filter.

You will need to make a jumper from your plug to the newer e28 pump.

Thanks Mike!

I'll make it work. I'll wrap the pump w/some material to make up the difference. Not the whole pump as don't need to trap any heat unnecessarily.

I tried that and it didn't work. The pump wiggled itself out of the wrap. From the safety standpoint alone I would go with the bracket I mentioned.

Well you wont believe this, and if your a purist you wont like it, but I run an electric fuel pump - Delphi FD-003 ($50) in my 2800CS with my Weber carbs. I have the cab input set at about 2.5 PSI. I keep a spare with me but have never had to use it. The setup works fine and I put about 7-8K miles a year on the car a year. As a matter of practicality, I don't wait for it to fail and simply replace it every five years.

EFI requires a high pressure pump.

BTW, I got the E28 fuel pump to fit tight in the bracket with the reservoir.

2" ABS pipe cut with a slot so it can compress onto the pump.
