Can someone shed some light on to what “load shedding “ relay actually does and how it works?
I have a color coded electrical diagram and sorting my wiring harness and came across it. We are trying to undernand the function of the relay and how it works!

Cheers

In addition, the heavy contacts in the LS relay carry the current for the high power circuits. Otherwise, that would have to be carried by the contacts in the ignition switch. This makes the ignition switch last longer, since it only needs to carry enough current to run the low-power circuits and energize the LS relay.

Thank you Chris, thank you Jmarcro, and thank you Rob!
I read through other links(Chris’s previous one) here as well. So to be clear how many circuits does it control on a CS2800?

You guys are an amazing Group!

Make sure you understand how these work- the ground on unloader relays is often the starter motor (inductor).
The positive from the ignition completes the circuit.
Cranking the engine turns the ground into a positive and now the circuit fails open
(2 positives)
Ferrari was the king of the unloader relays for me- they used a normally closed relay that would open when cranking and pins 30 and 87 were the grounds to the relay coils to operate all the relays they wanted turned off.

i added a starter relay to give juice directly from battery to solenoid skipping the ignition switch and now it appears the LS relay. Starter jumps to life when the key is turned.

So may be terms : load “Shedding” or “sharing “ could be interchangeably used !
How many circuits go through this relay? I will look up the wiring diagram to understand it better.... but your input will be valuable and appreciated!
