electronic transistor ignition, useful ???

I think the only transistors in my coupe are in the radio and maybe the turn signal circuit. Everything else is fuses or relays, and I am keeping it that way.

After the upcoming High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse attack by our enemies du jour I will be the only one driving around. The highways will be empty, cellphones won't ring, and parking meters in the city will be inoperable. Like an endless week-end. Even bills will stop coming. Neat.

When the water runs out in CA afterwards, my Corvair with points will still soldier on.

I'm running the transistorized system from an E12

When I retrofitted the L-Jetronic injection from a 1981 E12 528i, I also installed the electronic ignition module, consisting of all of the components shown on the first page of this thread. It has functioned flawlessly. I recently thought I should accumulate some spares for the long trip to and from The Vintage and looked at the list prices of some of the components and nearly had a stroke. Fortunately they do show up on eBay

I'd like to do this since I too just snagged an 1980 E12. Can you describe all the components I need to take off the E12 to get a fully transistorized ignition setup? Dizzy, coil? Wiring? No ballast resistor right?
