gruppe,

where is the bes source to buy elephant skin? la jolla indy has it at $139 / sq meter. penske has a "trimming foil" part # 51951811281 in mittelgray at $85.59 / sm ... or $77 / sm after 'cca discount. is this the same stuff? its listed in the trunk covering section. or is it a bmw switcheroo ... new product that has no relationship to the original material. appreciate any insight.

thanks
scott

interesting - different pictures between mobile traditions + real oem / penske. same part #. mobile traditions shows the part # as the trim that joins the trunk wheel arch panels ... whereas real oem / penske show it as a roll of fabric. anybody know what max. gets for the elephant skin?

811281 is the joining trim, don't even see it on Penske. Looks like the wheel arch covers have dropped to $119. Didn't see the elephant skin.

Elephant skin?

Hi:
Just wondering how much ntoo short is the fabric?
Let me know so I can see what can be done.

you need a piece that is 60" long to do the rear panel. i would think that it comes on a roll (bolt), which would be several running meters. i am going to need to buy some pretty soon.

How long is the fabric that is available? Doesn't it come on a roll that can be cut as long as you want? Usually if it's 54" wide it can be bought as many feet as you need and in this case you should only need 6 ft at the most. Also they may be giving you info in meters instead of inches so it would seem to be not as long as needed.
Check with Mario on this site. He is a member and sells it by order.

i'm not the one who said it didn't come long enough. i just stated how long the rear panel is. i agree that it should come on a roll, and probably sold by the meter or yard. most fabrics are available in 54" width ... even european fabrics.

i am just amazed at the cost. i can buy upholstery silk for less ... from the best producers. we need to find the actual source. it shouldn't cost more than about $40 / yd.
