Difference between the auto and standard tranny radiators
Observation on the difference between the auto and standard tranny radiators. As in my original post I have been using an auto radiator out of 1972 CS auto tranny parts car. The original standard radiator in our 1970 2800CS was in bad shape so we replaced it with the auto. Having the auto out now for the water pump replacement, we noticed the following.
While the auto radiator is the same physical size (cooling area) as the standard, except the right side housing is extended for the auto tranny cooler, it does have two more horizontal water passages between the two housings. The auto has 32 and the manual has 30 at least on the ones I have which are original BMW.
Probably not making a big difference, but a difference none the less.
