Elimination of intake manifolds' coolant "jackets"

My coolant jackets/covers are badly corroded, and I am thinking of eliminating them and replacing them with fabricated cover plates. This car will always be in South Orange County, CA (my location), so I do not need the intake heating function of coolant passing through this area. This could also provide more working clearance under the manifolds. Any thoughts or cautions?

They actually don't look that bad. I've seen parts where the pipe is missing pieces.

Making a blanking plate also entails some work - why not have the covers vapor blasted and see how they come out?
I think you'll be surprised.

If you do go the route of the blanking plate, do not bin these parts, but keep them with the car for the next owner or put them for sale here, as good spares of these parts are becoming a tad hard to find.

I have a set of manifolds with the cooling jackets ready to go if you are interested. They are already vapor honed and cerokoted.
