Euro 1972 3.0csi Project car and parts. (SOLD)

I haven't posted here on e9coupe.com, but some of you may know me on mye28.com. I have done a lot of great research here on the forum and have appreciated the knowledge here. Unfortunately, it is time for me to sell my e9. I bought it a few years ago with hopes that I would start in on the restoration. I have spent most of my time on e28s and my e24 and have never spent any time on this car. I am hoping to find a buyer who is prepared to restore the car.

The car is a true euro German market 3.0csi. The chassis number is 2262778. It is originally a Polaris Silver car over black leather. The car has the original 4 speed and 3.0 liter m30 with fuel injection. Before the car left Germany, it was painted red. Records indicate that it was painted "Farbar Glasurit #21" on September 27 1989. The car was imported to the U.S. in 1992.

The odometer is still in Kilometers and reads 47,000km. The records indicate that the car had 40,000km in 1989. I believe the car has only had 7,000km put on it in the 21 years. It has not been licensed since 2006.

The engine is the euro 3.0 liter m30 rated at 200 horsepower. Records indicate that the head was rebuilt at 43,xxx km in 1991. The engine sounds healthy and does run. However, it misses and does not accelerate smoothly. It is my opinion that the car has a fuel delivery issue. It may be low fuel pressure, debris or rust in the fuel tank, or other issues. The transmission and clutch work properly and do not appear to have any mechanical issues. There is a dragging caliper on the front passenger side that makes driving the car unsafe. Please note, I have not driven or attempted to drive the car since last summer. The car has been stored since then.

The interior appears complete and is in decent condition. The black leather seats do not have any rips or tears. There are leather seat panels that do appear to have been stripped of the black dye. You can see in the pictures that some sections of the seats are no longer black. The wood is in decent shape. The door panels have been cut to accomodate several aftermarket speakers in each door. The glass is all in good shape. The gauges and lights all worked the last time I checked last summer. All of the writing in the car is in German.

The body, like most e9 coupes, is where this car will require dedicated attention. There is rust in floor, rockers, and fenders. There is also rust in the nose. This is a non-sunroof car and the roof is solid. The doors and trunk lid were replaced in 1989 when the car was painted and they appear solid. The trunk and rear shock towers appear solid. I have been under the car and I did not see any rust in the shock towers from underneath. The driver's side outer rocker was removed for inspection by the previous owner. In my opinion, the most serious rust is where the fender meets the strut tower on the passenger side.

Parts included in the sale:

New OEM BMW replacement fender ($919.39 on realoem.com)
2 spare cylinder heads (unknown condition)
extra ZF 4 speed transmission
extra euro front bumper
one each euro speedo, tach, clock
2 sets (4 total) solex carbs/manifolds (from 2800cs)
Factory service manual (blue binder)
euro emergency triangle in original plastic case
2 quarter windows and regulators
--and some other various parts.

This is a rare car that deserves to be restored. It should be considered a restoration project. While it will run and drive, I would not call it a driver or plan on driving it anywhere. I will be happy to discuss the car and answer any questions that you may have. I will also be happy to take more pictures if you would like to see a specific area of the car. The price is $6000 or best offer.

Thanks,

Paul
