Europa II wiring

I've bought their bluetooth unit so they make good stuff. I've not seen that must be new, if it works with a regular aftermarket amp I'd get one. Ask them if there is a minimum sensitivity the amp must have in order for it to work. I just have a regular Kenwood amp I got from Crutchfield with both line level and powered inputs, but the line levels aren't sensitive enough to work without the Becker amp so I'm stuck in the middle.

The separate amp form Becker was a space/tech issue, they wanted excellent sound but the tech wasn't there yet to allow for it to fit in one chassis

The radio doesn't put out enough wattage to run to a regular power amp. I tried. You need to find a special power amp that will accept very low level inputs. I run the stock Becker amp through line attenuators to a power amp. Doesn't sound great, but sounds period correct!

I am neither familiar with nor encouraging any modifications. However, this site suggests that certain mods (as in modernizations) are available, and perhaps they can shed some light on adapting non-Becker amps to function with Becker receivers. http://www.blackforestllc.com/becker/index.html

The Europa II AM/FM radio is a push-button preset, fully transistorized, stereo radio. It was used in all Mercedes models in 1972.
Becker offers an auxiliary input adapter cable set for this Europa radio, allowing third party audio connections, such as satellite radio or iPod. http://www.blackforestllc.com/becker/europa2_s5/index.html

Contacted creativecaraudioshop concerning their adapter and got this note:

The output from the becker radios are reduced by almost half if it is used with aftermarket amplifiers. We suggest to pick an aftermarket amplifier with more power to compensate for the loss of power while keeping in mind that these are old technology radios and the audio can not be compared with current equipment on the market.

So helpful and then not helpful. I will try to find an original amp for now.
