Exhaust emissions parts removal

I want to remove all of the emissions related tubing and connections on or near the exhaust manifold. Is there a writeup about this on the forum? I wasn't able to locate it. I especially would like to know what size/thread plugs are required to seal up any orifice that needs to be plugged after the removal of the emissions equipment.

Keep in mind that one of those actuators contols an arm that affects the idle so in that sense, the systen is never totally bypassed.

But that arm only slows return to idle to reduce emissions so most are now long gone. Just as in an 02, you have a silver square speed relay box near the rad panel that controls those dashpots on the firewall of which you have three. You can remove the relay, dashpots, vacuum lines (plug any on the carb or manifold). The biggest issue is the pipe from the egr to back of rear exhaust manifold, I don’t remember the size but someone here will, plug it. There are copper pipes between the carbs that many leave to help balance the carbs but pinch off any branch or remove them and plug the manifolds. Black/red wires go to that speed relay, just unplug or remove. I’ve probably left one step out.

The biggest issue is the pipe from the egr to back of rear exhaust manifold, I don’t remember the size but someone here will, plug it.

If the EGR valve is not hooked up, it will not be recycling any exhaust gas. No real need to remove that valve and tube if your only goal is only to not have any power robbing smog gear. If it is part of an overall engine bay clean up or you are building a race car, that's another story.

I removed all of mine, provides for more room and is cleaner, I agree.

Yes that appears to be the main hole that needs to be plugged.

There are copper pipes between the carbs that many leave to help balance the carbs

I used some brake booster vacuum hose to connect those two manifold barbed fittings

That is definitely one purpose of purging the emissions components.
