E9 Friends and Experts,
I am currently discussing with my AC shop as they want to adjust the TXV:
I have sent them a picture of the original valve as per the W&N site, and their comment was:

"Looking at this picture, this original valve can be adjusted. Is there any data from BMW available?"

Calling on your experience - have you come across adjustment for the TXV?
In my non-educated opinion I had assume that the externally equalized valve adjusts the throughput of the liquid based on the probe that "senses" how cold the low pressure side gets.

Any comments appreciated - thank you in advance!

after spending many years in the refrigeration/air conditioning business I suggest you ask your A/C specialist if they have the correct equipment to accurately measure the superheat setting , in my experience an expansion valve from the manufacturers should never require adjustment on a vehicle system
 
Hello, In a old Jaguar Technical bulletin, We were instructed to turn the hexagon nut in three full turns to calibrate to R-1234 spec from R-12. Same TXV. On my 1985 Jaguar this moved my thermostat readings from 48F to 40F with no other adjustments.

We have never adjusted. They work great. 18 bucks.

Hello SFdon, Next time you get one in your hands, Look into the hole opposite the thermostatic bulb and you should find a threaded hollow nut with a hollow hexagon nut in side. This is how the manufacturer uses the same valve for different properties of different freon.

I’ve got a eBay pic of one but it barely shows the threads. Have you got a home in Porto? It’s my next place to go to on a river cruise.
