Federal bumpers vs European (early bumpers)

My car will hopefully be delivered late tonight so I have been making room in the garage. It is going to be very tight. Google claims that the e9 is 15' 3". Does switching to pre impact bumpers save me a few inches? I deleted the impact bumpers on my 914 and 911 and I definitely saved a few inches on the 914 at least.

IMO, I you will be well over 15’ 3” with impact bumpers. That sounds like a euro bumper figure. That’s 183”. Im about 176” with no bumpers. That’s 7” difference for two DOT bumpers. The bumper metal alone is like 3-4” deep per end, not including the shock absorbers/gap. One thing to note is that with the bumpers off the shark nose and the trunk are the longest part of the car, so maybe the delta is a little smaller.

There is an eBay seller in Vietnam that makes E9 bumpers. I know that Don had an issue with a shipment from them at one point, but I ordered a front bumper from them and it arrived quickly and well-packaged. Pricing was quite good as well. And they use DHL so none of the UPS import crap

I actually reached out to them yesterday to inquire about tariffs. Their response was the "presidential tax was 10-15%"

I think that my amount was a little closer to 20% but still a very easy one and done. And that was all-in, which included whatever fee DHL charged

Impact bumpers are 74 only beginning in 9/73.

Is it as simple as removing these M14 bolts?

Pretty much. You may need to use a small sledge and hit backside of bumper to pull them out.
