Many years ago when I was into older Corvettes I made what I thought was a one of a kind idea. I made what is now being sold on the forum, plastic door liners.
The ones I made were made of I think, I really can't remember, but I think between 5mil and 9mil. clear plastic sheet. I cut out all the holes and used pressure sensitive tape around the perimeter and also around the holes. I have a relative who makes the plastic sheets and I am making a set for my son's 1966 2000CS. I really do not like to compete with another member, I feel these are quite different because the whole sheet is not adhesive backed , only the perimeter of all openings. I'm considering leaving some of th he bottom edge open as a vapor barrier. If anyone would like to see a small piece of the material I am using please PM me. I think these can be made for about $40 for a set of door protectors. I have not timed the project as yet. I will include the pressure sensitive tape for the perimeter and also rounds of the same for all the openings in the cards.
I am excited about these because they will keep out the water without any modifications.

Are these intended to protect the door cards...? If so, thickness from 5 to 9 mm seems a lot, by a factor of 10, please verify.
 
That makes sense. I can use 3 mil which is also available. And yes for protecting the cards.Please send me your address and I will send you a sample.
 
The Blue Books call the sheets "Acela." I get a kick out of that because the guy who named the Amtrak high-speed trains on the Northeast Corridor (Acela) thought he invented the name....just saying.
