Fender overriders

Just noticed that the NOS overrider I am about to fit is slightly different.
The new one has a lip on the top, which the old ones do not.
My question is should the lip be present or is it a moulding excess which should be removed

That looks like e3 rear bumper guard. Here is a pic of the front which is much larger. Rear is too tight to body to get a photo.

Here is rear, they are much taller as well.

My coupe, no overlap, it stops short of bumper edge
