Few pics of my CSL

I hate to do it because I am of the firm belief that as stewards of these rare machines we have some responsibility to preserve them within some reasonable shade of originality, we're also free to do whatever we like to them. Stylistic changes and modifications are certainly up to the owner's discretion, after all, it's your car, and your hard earned money that you're lavishing upon it. My own CSL, which just happens to be Polaris (it was the original color BTW) has some modifications from stock, some of which have rankled the purists. Personally, while I agree with the statement that Polaris looks great on E9s, I'm also extremely tired of it and love seeing them in other colors, especially Ceylon. They're only original once, and taking a car that was originally one and going to another involves a lot more work than just respraying it the same color.

If it's any consideration at all, I can tell you that from personal experience, the waistline decals in the motorsport colors are insanely expensive. I too love the way they look on silver (and white) CSLs but when I priced them, I ended up with the black version. If memory serves, they were about $700 3 years ago.

In the end, the choice is yours and even if you paint her purple we'll all still respect your decision. Ok, maybe not purple.........but you get the idea.

Congratulations on your new acquistion

Thanks again to all those that chimed in.
Your advice is much appreciated.
But sorry to say I am going to have to go against the majority.
I truly dislike the color GOLD and not likley to grow any fonder..

There is no option for me to switch mine with a Polaris E9 as a couple of you had suggested.
I realize there is an over abundance of Silver E9's worldwide.
But my CSL is the only E9 in Sri Lanka AFAIK.
And likely to remain so, as import of cars over 10 years old is prohibited. So it will remain unique no matter what color.

As for color change being a de-valuing factor, again not exactly valid here due to the exclusivity - not that i'm likely to ever want to sell it!

The color change will be done thoroughly as its going to be an engine-out, bare metal respray.
Planning to completely strip down the interior as well.
And will top it off with the correct color code sticker :)

Orangener: Thanks for the pictures of the Ceylon CSL . I did search for pictures my self and came up with this impecable beauty:

Incidentally i have no hope of matching this level of perfection

corsachili: Thanks for the well thought out post.
I am hoping to purchase these motorsport-color stripes from CSI inc, at $195.
Please let me know if anyone here has used their stripes before or seen them.

Thanks
