Turbo hoses is prepping this CSL for Sonoma Speed Festival later this month. This was the factory CSL chassis found unused some years ago. This will be its inaugural run. Incredible car. There's the Hobbs driven Turbo 320i running the McLaren prepped Turbo motor here as well. Thought you guys would enjoy these.

Beautiful. Looks like Le Mans 76 livery. Great un politically correct Gitanes. Dry sumped b35 mounted vertically from the looks of it. Someone should make those white Motorsport shift knobs from the day.

Is this one of the 21 race chassis?
Yes. It was found in Europe as an unused factory chassis from my understanding. Eric Schmitt (owner of bmw of SF) and owner of these cars purchased it and built it up using period parts (restored).

Looks like Henry renumbered his CSL (2275987) and is claiming #25. About 4 years ago BMW NA celebrated the 40 year anniversary of the win at Sebring. Much of the 1975 race team were reunited including crew chief Rudy Gmeiner. The history of which CSL chassis did what was uncovered and we now know 987 won Sebring while 988 was the hare that Stuck and Posey drove to "break the Porsches". Good on Henry. NA's 985 has been wearing 25 for decades....

oops, sorry, Henry Schmitt of BMW of San Francisco, not Eric.

Yes, Henry not Eric. I don't think #25 will be running but #24 (black car in pics) and the Turbo will be running at www.sonomaspeedfestival.com at the end of this month. If you're within 1000 miles you should definitely make this event. It will be outstanding for both the drivers and the fans. A huge improvement over past vintage races....
