Question: the filler neck trunk (inside) cover - has 2 factory holes. I am eliminating gas odors (or trying to). Has anyone ever covered these holes and if so with what? I am the care taker of a concours CS - or like to think so - so would like to do this in such a way that it looks good. Are these holes a relief valve of sorts for built up pressure? Can't imagine that as it is flexible rubber. I still have the grey hearing aid shaped tank in front of it. I believe I have heard that removing this helps with the odors?

Hope to see some e9 owners at Sharkfest Saturday in Greenville, SC.

There are 2 factory plugs for this that you are missing, there is a thread on this recently:

Keep the grey tank but cap both ends with vacuum fitting plugs from the autoparts store. Then route the hose from the fuel filler neck which went to the grey tank out under the trunk panel and under the bottom of the car between the gas tank and the bodywork, there is a hole there you can use.

Take out the little idle air jet foam filters from your Webers, they cause rich running and gas smells.

Replace the paper cover gaskets of your Webers with the rubber ones available from Pierce Manifolds.

I think the thread mentioned Walluth & Nesch in deutschland has them. You can ask Stan if he is going to make them.
