Hi there-well I have Sanden compressor, block mount. Wylie bracket new evaporator, condenser.

Few questions-
1. Should I buy a new expansion valve?
2 I’d like to order plug and play hoses. Is there a good source for off the shelf?
3. Does anyone happen to know belt size.

Thanks as always. Will share pics when she’s finally sorted. -Tom

My $.02:

1. If your evap coil is accessible then I would install a new one so you don’t have to go back in later. That said, my original valve is still functioning fine.

2. Not that I know of, everyone upgrading has them cut and crimped to fit. Easy to do in your garage. I highly recommend reduced barrier hoses which are not only smaller but easier to route out of the way of heat (and sight).

3. Belt size is also a custom fit - estimate with a string then buy that hose plus the next larger and smaller Gates sizes from O’Reilley. Return them and repeat the process until you find the one that fits just right when tensioned.

I agree with Steve's $.02

Also be sure to use a new receiver drier and eliminate the system "muffler" that is not needed with the new style compressor. Where did you find a new evaporator? Are there really new, stock expansion valves out there?

You can probably have a local AC shop make up your hoses. I bought the kit, made my hoses, then resold the kit. Someone here may have done the same and has a fitting crimping kit for sale. Keep in mind that if you use the stock evaporator, expansion valve and hard lines through the firewall that you will have both flare and O-ring fittings in the system.
